About IV Therapy Class

What is IV Therapy?

Intravenous therapy is administered by nurses, EMTs, and paramedics or under the supervision of physicians and dentists in offices and clinics.




DESCRIPTION OF THE CLASS

This course prepares participants for initiating and/or maintaining common intravenous therapies and includes the following topics.

This 8 hour class meets for one day from 8:00am to 4:30pm usually on a Saturday. You are encouraged to bring along friends or family who are willing to allow you to practice starting IVs on them. Students will also practice on mannequins.

STUDENT AUDIENCE

This course is NOT designed for C.N.A. students. It is not within the scope of a C.N.A. to start or maintain IVs. This class is for existing healthcare professionals who wish to, gain knowledge and skills in this specialized area.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

Once you have completed the IV Therapy class, you will receive a "Certificate of Completion" indicating that you have received specialized training IV Therapy.

STATE / NATIONAL CERTIFICATION ?

Unlike CNA certification (which is highly regulated by the State), there are no State (or National) approved guidelines for IV therapy education, nor is there such a thing as a "State Certified IV Therapist".
